Together We Make A Difference

     The City of Berkeley is a cultural landmark renowned for its culinary and local food community. The restaurant industry has played a vital role in this community for generations, serving over 33,000 people every day. Our restaurants provide nourishment and pleasure to Berkeley's many residents and visitors, while at the same time feeding and sustaining our local economy.

     The Berkeley Restaurant Alliance was founded in 2008 by six Berkeley restaurant owners seeking to enhance communication and representation within the industry. Often, business owners and managers face industry-specific issues independently and without a strong background of support. The goal of our alliance is to provide that network of assistance, and to aid in cooperation between restaurant owners in all business and legislative matters. Our website and e-mails serve as a forum to facilitate communication between members. The initial efforts of our alliance have been welcomed at City Hall and at the state level, as well as by existing local business associations.

     We hope to unite Berkeley's over 400 restaurants in this free, active alliance. We feel that no one can represent our industry better than ourselves, the people that work hands-on within it every day. By uniting to support each other, members of the Berkeley Restaurant Alliance can help both our businesses and our community to thrive.
